Clear Item

Data Action Grooper.Core

Clears the value of a specified Data Element within a data instance.

Remarks

The Clear Item action is used to clear or reset the value of a Data Element such as a field, section, or table. Using this action, you can perform the following operations:

  • Clear the value of a field.
  • Remove all rows from a table.
  • Remove all records from a multi-instance section.
  • Clear all fields in a single-instance section.

Multiple Instances

If multiple instances of the specified element exist, all instances in scope will be cleared.

For example, tf the selected element is a field which occurs multiple times in a repeating section, all occurrences of that field will be cleared. If the selected element is a table within a repeating section, all tables will be cleared.

Configuration Guidance

  • Use this action to remove unwanted, invalid, or obsolete data from extracted fields, tables, or sections.
  • For collections (such as tables or repeating sections), all child values will be cleared.
  • For single fields, the value will be set to blank.
  • This action does not delete the element itself—only its value(s).
