ColorTrac Scanner

The 'Scan Area' property defines the rectangular area on each page that will be captured by the Capture Device.

• Configure this property to match the size and position of your documents within the scanner.
• Units can be specified in inches, points, millimeters, centimeters, or as a percentage of the page size (<in>, <pt>, <mm>, <cm>, <%>).
• Limiting the scan area can improve performance and reduce file size by excluding blank margins or irrelevant regions.
• The default value is typically the full page area, but can be adjusted for custom document sizes or to avoid scanning artifacts at the edges.

The 'Resolution' property determines the scanning DPI for each image acquired from the ColorTrac scanner. Higher values produce more detailed images but increase file size and scanning time. Lower values scan faster and create smaller files, but may reduce image clarity.

Configuration

• Typical values: 200, 300, 400, 600, 1200.
• Choose a resolution appropriate for your document type and downstream processing needs.
• For archival or engineering drawings, use 300 DPI or higher.
• For draft or review scans, 200 DPI may be sufficient.

• Custom: Specify exact width and length for documents that do not match standard sizes. Use for special or irregular originals.

Overview

The 'Tile Size' property is used when 'Page Size Mode' is set to Auto. It defines the maximum length, in inches, for each scanned image tile. This is useful for scanning long documents in manageable segments.

Configuration

• Enter a value with units, e.g., 36in for 36 inches.
• Use 0in to disable tiling and scan the entire page as a single image.

Example

To break a scan into 24-inch tiles: Tile Size = "24in"

Impact

Tiling can help manage memory and file size for very long documents. Each tile is saved as a separate image.

Overview

The 'Custom Page Size' property allows you to define a specific scan area by entering coordinates for the region to scan. This is useful for non-standard page sizes or to exclude unwanted borders.

• Enter coordinates in the format (left,top)-(right,bottom), using inches or other supported units.
• Example: (0,0)-(24,24) scans a 24" x 24" area from the top-left corner.
• To exclude a 1" border: (1,1)-(22,22).

Overview

The PaperEndCondition enumeration controls the scanner's behavior after a page has been fully scanned. This setting determines whether the paper is ejected, rewound, or left in place, and is important for workflow automation and operator convenience.

• Use Eject to automatically eject the paper after scanning.
• Use DoNothing to leave the paper in place for manual removal.
• Use Rewind or RewindAndStage to return the paper to the starting position for repeated scans.
