Event Filter

Grooper Object Grooper

Defines filtering criteria for Grooper Log Events.

Remarks

The Event Filter class enables you to specify detailed criteria for searching, viewing, or purging entries in the Grooper event log. It is used throughout the Grooper UI and API to filter log events by type, date range, user, machine, node, and message content.

How It Works

Event Filter properties correspond to columns in the event log and allow you to construct complex queries for diagnostics, auditing, or troubleshooting. You can filter by event types (such as errors, warnings, or audits), restrict results to a specific date range, or search for events related to a particular user, machine, or node.

The filter is used to generate SQL queries for retrieving, counting, or deleting log events. It supports both broad and highly specific searches, making it suitable for both routine monitoring and forensic investigations.

Configuration Guidance

  • Use 'Event Types' to select which categories of events to include (e.g., errors, warnings, audits).
  • Set 'Start Date Time' and 'End Date Time' to restrict results to a specific time window.
  • Use 'User Account', 'Machine Name', 'Node Name', or 'Node Id' to focus on events related to a particular user, machine, or object.
  • Use 'Message' or 'Call Stack' to search for specific text within event messages or stack traces.
  • Set 'Direction' to control the chronological order of results.

Event Filter is essential for effective event log management, compliance auditing, and troubleshooting in Grooper.
