Field Container Instance - Run Fill Method

The 'Fill Method Name' property specifies which fill method will be executed when the command runs. Fill methods are defined on the parent Data Model, Data Section, or Data Table and may include extractors, lookups, or custom logic for populating data elements.

Configuration

• Select from the list of available fill methods configured on the current container.
• If no fill method is selected, the first available method will be used by default.

Example

If a Data Table has fill methods named "Standard Extract" and "Lookup Vendor Info", select the desired method to run only that logic.

Impact

• Controls which extraction or population strategy is applied to the container.
• Useful for testing, troubleshooting, or applying specialized logic.

The 'Instructions' property allows you to provide custom guidance or rules for the fill method being executed, when using AI-powered extraction methods such as AI Extract. These instructions are included in the extraction prompt or logic, shaping how data is interpreted and populated from the document.

How It Works

• When running an AI Extract fill method, the instructions are sent to the large language model (LLM) as part of the prompt.
• Use instructions to clarify the extraction task, specify constraints, or provide examples for the LLM.
• Well-crafted instructions can improve extraction accuracy, especially for complex or ambiguous documents.
• For other fill methods, instructions may be ignored or used according to the method's implementation.

Configuration Guidance

• Enter clear, concise instructions describing the overall extraction goal, document context, or global rules.
• For AI Extract, instructions set the global context for the LLM, while field-level details can be provided using the 'Description' property on individual Data Elements.
• Both instructions and descriptions are presented to the LLM: instructions as a top-level message, and descriptions as part of the extraction schema for each field, table, or section.

Examples

• Instructions: Extract all invoice dates and totals. Ignore line items which represent returns.
• Field Description: The invoice date is typically found near the top right and should be in mm/dd/yyyy format.
• Table Description: List all line items, including description, quantity, and unit price.
