Data Element Instance - Execute Lookup

Executes a lookup operation for the selected data element.

Remarks

The ExecuteLookup command allows users to retrieve values for a Data Field from external sources or predefined lists.

Purpose and Functionality

• Performs a lookup for the selected field or container, populating it with results from a database, lexicon, or other source.
• Supports both static choice lists and dynamic lookups.
• Enabled when the field or container has lookup specifications or is configured for lookup.
• Can be triggered using Alt + L.

How to Use

• Right-click a field or container and select "Lookup" from the context menu, or use the shortcut.
• Results are populated in the field, and validation is performed automatically.

Example

> Use ExecuteLookup to retrieve a vendor name from a connected database or select a value from a managed list.
