Overview

A Content Model is the root object that organizes and describes the types of documents and data elements present in a document set. It establishes the hierarchy of Content Categories and Document Types, and provides the configuration and training data required for automated classification and extraction.

Structure and Hierarchy

Classification

  • The Content Model can be configured with a 'Classification Method' to enable automated document classification and separation.
  • When a Classify activity is performed, the configured method analyzes document content to assign the most appropriate Document Type.
  • If no classification method is specified, all documents are assigned the 'Default Content Type', if set.
  • The 'Minimum Similarity' and 'Minimum Difference' properties control the confidence thresholds for classification.

Data Extraction

Training and Samples

  • If a training-based classification method is used, the Content Model manages training samples and stores training data for each Document Type.
  • Training can be performed using the Train As and Train From commands, which update the classification model with new examples.

Usage Guidance

  • Use a Content Model to define the full set of document types and data elements for a solution.
  • Organize Document Types and Content Categories to reflect business requirements and document structure.
  • Configure classification and extraction settings at the appropriate level to maximize reuse and maintainability.
