Scanner Profile

Can be one of the following types:

Select the hardware device (such as a TWAIN or ISIS scanner) that this Scanner Profile will control.

• The available devices are detected and listed based on the system configuration.
• Each Scanner Profile should be associated with a single Capture Device.
• Changing the device may require updating other settings, such as feed orientation or image processing.

The 'Feed Orientation' property determines how pages are physically oriented as they are scanned.

• Choose the orientation that matches how documents are loaded into the scanner's feeder.
• Options include top-first, left-first, right-first, bottom-first, or automatic detection.
• Correct orientation ensures that scanned images are upright and properly aligned for downstream processing.

> If unsure, use 'Auto' to let Grooper determine the correct orientation for each page.

Attach an IP Profile to this Scanner Profile to perform custom image processing (such as deskew, despeckle, or color correction) on images from this device.

• Use this property when a particular scanner requires unique cleanup steps not needed for other devices.
• The selected IP Profile will only be applied to images captured using this Scanner Profile.
• For general or permanent image cleanup, configure the IP Profile at the scan module level instead.

> This is useful for handling device-specific quirks or quality issues.

Specifies the maximum number of seconds the Scan View will wait for the next page before timing out or canceling the scan session.

• This timeout is enforced by the scanning service and is checked both after the last page is fetched and during scanner initialization (with a longer grace period at startup).
• This setting helps prevent hung scan sessions.

Overview

ScanOnce™ enables Grooper to store scanned page images in color or grayscale, allowing black and white (binary) images to be generated dynamically at review time. This approach allows review operators to adjust image display settings—such as threshold, brightness, and contrast—without needing to re-scan the original pages.

• When ScanOnce™ is enabled, original page images are preserved in a high-fidelity format (color or grayscale).
• Black and white images are produced on demand, using the current configuration settings.
• This enables real-time optimization of image quality for downstream processing, export, or data extraction.

Usage Scenarios

• Quality Optimization: Reviewers can fine-tune image display settings to improve OCR or data extraction results.
• Color Retention: Pages containing color can be presented in color, while others remain in black and white, based on detection logic.
• No Re-Scanning: Adjustments to image display do not require rescanning, saving time and reducing wear on physical documents.
