Defines a rule for merging attachment pages with one or more host document types during document separation.

Overview

The Page Attachment Rule is used in ESP Auto Separation to control how loose pages or attachments are merged with host documents. This enables flexible handling of supplemental pages, such as cover sheets or addenda, ensuring they are grouped with the correct document types according to your business rules.

Page Attachment Rules allow you to specify which Content Types should be treated as attachments and which host Content Types they may be merged with during separation.

• Use this rule to merge loose pages or specific attachment types with one or more host document types.
• Attachment rules are evaluated during separation to ensure related pages are grouped together as a single document.

Configuration

1. Set the 'Attachment Type' property to the Content Type representing the attachment, or leave it blank to apply the rule to loose pages.
2. Add one or more Content Types to the 'Host Content Types' property to specify which documents can receive the attachment.
3. (Optional) Set 'Maximum Pages' to limit the number of loose pages that may be attached.

Attachment Type	Content Type	►	The Content Type which represents an attachment. EditorChild Type Editor If no value is specified, the rule will apply to loose pages. Select a Content Type to define which type of attachment this rule applies to. Leave blank to apply the rule to loose pages (pages not classified as a specific type). Only one attachment type can be specified per rule.
Host Content Types	Content Type[]	►	The list of Content Types this rule may attach pages to. EditorChild Types Editor ConverterCollection Converter Add one or more Content Types to specify which host documents can receive the attachment. If left empty, the rule applies to all host document types. Use this to restrict attachments to specific document types as needed.
Direction	PageDirection	►	Specifies the required position of a loose page or attachment relative to the host document when applying this rule. DefaultAny Can be one of the following values: Name Value Description Any 0 The loose page may occur before or after the document. Use Any to allow the attachment to be merged regardless of its position relative to the host document. This is the most flexible option and is suitable when the order of attachments is not important. ► Before 1 The loose page must occur before the document. Use Before to require that the attachment appears immediately before the host document in order to be merged. Select this when attachments such as cover sheets or lead pages should only be merged if they precede the document. ► After 2 The loose page must occur after the document. Use After to require that the attachment appears immediately after the host document in order to be merged. Select this when attachments such as addenda or trailing pages should only be merged if they follow the document. ► The Page Direction enum determines whether a loose page or attachment must appear before, after, or in any position relative to the host document for the Page Attachment Rule to apply. This setting is evaluated during document separation by ESP Auto Separation to control how and when attachments are merged with host documents.
Maximum Pages	Int32	►	The maximum number of pages to be attached, for a rule which applies to loose pages. Default1 Only relevant when 'Attachment Type' is blank (i.e., for loose pages). Limits the number of consecutive loose pages that may be merged as attachments to a host document. Set to control the maximum size of loose page attachments.
