CMIS Import Map

Embedded Object Grooper.CMIS

Configures how properties from a CMIS content type are mapped to fields in a Grooper content type during import.

Remarks

The CMIS Import Map object defines the relationship between properties of a selected CMIS content type and the fields of a Grooper content type. This mapping ensures that when documents are imported from a CMIS Repository, their data is correctly assigned to the appropriate fields in Grooper.

How Mapping Works

  • Each entry in the import map corresponds to a field in the target Grooper content type.
  • For each field, you can specify an expression that determines the value to import. This can be a direct property reference, a calculated value, or a static value.
  • Expressions are typically selected from a drop-down list of available CMIS properties, or edited directly for advanced scenarios.

Configuration Guidance

  • Use the property grid to review all writable fields of the target Grooper content type.
  • For each field, select or define an expression that provides the desired import value.
  • Required fields should have a value assigned; validation will alert you if any required mappings are missing.
  • You can use the AutoMap command to automatically generate initial mappings based on name similarity and type compatibility.

Best Practices

  • Review all generated mappings to ensure they meet your business and import requirements.
  • Use calculated expressions to format, combine, or transform data as needed for Grooper.
  • Regularly update the import map if the Grooper data model or the external CMIS type changes.
  • Test imports with sample data to verify that all required fields are populated and that data is formatted correctly.

Example Scenarios

  • Importing invoice data from a CMIS-based document management system into Grooper, mapping properties like "Invoice Number" and "Total Amount" to the corresponding Grooper fields.
  • Combining multiple CMIS properties into a single Grooper field using a calculated expression.
  • Assigning static or default values to fields required by Grooper but not present in the external system.
