Batch Process Step - Classification Tester

Provides a dedicated interface for testing and training the Classify activity on a Batch Process Step, enabling users to review classification results and perform user-directed training.

Remarks

The Classification Tester tab is a focused workspace for validating, refining, and training document classification logic within a Batch Process Step.
It is designed for solution designers and administrators who need to test classification results, assign document types, and improve training data before deploying changes to production.

Purpose

Use the Classification Tester to run the Classify activity on selected test sources, review ranked classification candidates, assign document types, and perform manual training.
This enables rapid feedback and iterative improvement of classification accuracy and training data.

UI Components

• Test Source:
  • Presents a hierarchical view of available test data, such as batches, folders, or documents.
  • Selecting an item determines the input for classification testing and what is displayed in the Candidate List and Document Viewer.
  • Supports navigation and selection using mouse and keyboard.
• Candidate List:
  • Displays a ranked list of classification candidates (Document Types) for the selected document.
  • Shows similarity or confidence scores for each candidate.
  • Allows assignment of a candidate type using mouse or keyboard (Up/Down to navigate, Enter to assign).
  • Supports user-directed training actions to improve classification accuracy.
  • Includes search/filter input for quickly locating document types.
• Document Viewer:
  • Shows the content of the currently-selected document for review and context.
  • Supports a variety of document types and formats, including images, text, and structured data.
  • Provides visual context for reviewing classification results and making assignment decisions.

Workflow and Scope

• The tab is enabled for Batch Process Steps configured with a Classify activity.
• Use the Test Source to select the batch, folder, or document to test.
• Review classification candidates in the Candidate List and assign the correct type as needed.
• Use training actions to improve the underlying classification model.
• The Document Viewer provides context for each classification decision.

Accessibility

• Fully navigable by keyboard and mouse.
• Visual cues and highlighting indicate the selected test source, candidate, and document.

Use this control to select the specific item you want to use as input for classification testing and training. The tree structure mirrors the batch hierarchy, allowing you to drill down from the batch root to folders and individual pages. Selecting an item in the tree determines both the input for classification and what is displayed in the Candidate List and Document Viewer. Supports navigation and selection using mouse and keyboard. Context menus may be available for additional actions, such as expanding/collapsing nodes or viewing item details. Usage Guidance: Click on a batch, folder, or document to select it as the test source. The selected item will be highlighted, and its content will appear in the Document Viewer. The Candidate List will update to show classification candidates for the selected document. Candidates	Candidate List	►	Displays ranked classification candidates (Document Types) for the currently-selected document, supporting assignment and user-directed training. The Candidate List control presents the most likely Document Types for the selected document, ordered by similarity or confidence score. Each candidate displays its name and a score indicating the likelihood of a match. Use the search/filter input to quickly locate a specific document type. Navigate the list using the mouse or keyboard (Up/Down to move, Enter to assign the selected type). Assigning a candidate updates the classification for the selected document. Training actions are available to improve classification accuracy by providing positive or negative feedback. Context menus and buttons may be available for training, assigning, or viewing details about a candidate. Usage Guidance: Select a document in the Test Source to view its classification candidates. Use the search box to filter candidates by name. Select a candidate and press Enter to assign it as the document type. Use available training actions to provide feedback and improve the classification model. > [!NOTE] > Training actions update the underlying classification model and may affect future classification results. Document Viewer	Document Viewer	►	Displays the currently-selected document for review and context. The Document Viewer control renders the content of the selected test item, providing visual context for classification review and candidate assignment. Supports a wide range of document types and formats, including images, text, PDF, email, and ZIP archives. Automatically selects the most appropriate viewer/editor based on the document's type and content. Allows you to view, search, and (where supported) interact with the document. For paginated documents, provides navigation controls to switch between pages. For text-based documents, supports searching and highlighting of terms. Usage Guidance: The viewer updates automatically when you select a different item in the Test Source. Use built-in navigation and search features to explore the document. For image and PDF documents, zoom and pan controls may be available. For unsupported or empty documents, a placeholder viewer is shown. > [!NOTE] > The Document Viewer is read-only in the Classification Tester context; editing is not supported.
