Brightness Contrast

Brightness Contrast Command IP Command Grooper.IP

Adjusts the brightness and contrast of an image using either traditional or linear methods.

Remarks

The Brightness Contrast command modifies the overall lightness and contrast of an image. It supports two primary adjustment modes:

  • Traditional (Curve-based): Uses the 'Brightness' and 'Contrast' properties to apply a non-linear adjustment, with several curve shapes available for fine-tuning. This method is similar to the brightness/contrast tools found in professional image editors.
  • Linear: Uses the 'Brightness' and 'Contrast' properties to apply a direct multiplier, similar to CSS filters. This mode is selected by setting 'Curve Shape' to 'Linear'.

How It Works

  • Select the adjustment mode by setting the 'Curve Shape' property.
    • For traditional adjustments, configure 'Brightness' and 'Contrast'.
    • For linear adjustments, configure 'Brightness' and 'Contrast' as multipliers.
  • Use positive values to increase brightness or contrast, and negative values to decrease them.

Diagnostics

Brightness Contrast does not generate diagnostic images. The effect can be visually inspected by comparing the input and output images.

> Tip: Use Brightness Contrast to improve image clarity before OCR or other processing steps. Extreme > values may cause loss of detail or clipping in the image.
