Content Type - Submit Indexing Job

Content Type Command Grooper.GPT

Submits an indexing job for the selected Content Type, updating the associated search index with new, updated, or deleted documents.

Remarks

The Submit Indexing Job command creates and submits one or more jobs to process documents for the selected Content Type's search index, based on the current Indexing Behavior configuration and selected options. This command is essential for keeping the search index synchronized with the latest document content, metadata, and structure.

When to Use

  • Use this command after importing, updating, or deleting documents to ensure the search index reflects the current state of your content.
  • Run the command to reindex all documents after making changes to extraction logic, document structure, or Indexing Behavior settings.
  • Use to clean up orphaned index entries or to process only documents that have changed since the last indexing operation.

Requirements

  • The command is enabled only for Content Types with a local Indexing Behavior and an existing search index.
  • Sufficient job processing resources and queue capacity must be available to run the indexing jobs.

How It Works

  • The command determines which documents need to be added, updated, or deleted in the search index, based on the selected 'Operations' and options.
  • Jobs are created in batches, according to the 'Job Size' property, and submitted to the selected processing queue.
  • The command can be configured to reindex all documents, only changed documents, or to detect and remove orphaned index entries.
  • Progress and statistics are displayed to help monitor indexing activity and results.

Usage Scenarios

  • Initial population of a search index for a new Content Type.
  • Reindexing after changes to document content, extraction logic, or Indexing Behavior configuration.
  • Cleaning up search indexes by removing orphaned or outdated entries.
  • Automating search index maintenance as part of a batch process or scheduled workflow.

> Note: Indexing jobs may take time to complete, depending on the number of documents and available processing resources. > Monitor job progress and review statistics to ensure successful completion.
