Batch Folder - Group Children

Batch Folder Command Grooper.EDI

Organizes the children of a folder into subfolders based on item count and/or total file size.

Remarks

The Group Children command automatically splits the contents of a folder into smaller subfolders, making large groups of items easier to manage or process.

How it works:

  • You can set a maximum number of items per subfolder, a maximum total file size per subfolder, or both.
  • New subfolders are created as needed, and items are moved into them so that neither limit is exceeded.
  • You may also assign a specific Content Type to the new subfolders and control their names using an expression.

Common scenarios:

  • Breaking up a folder of 1,000 documents into subfolders of 100 each.
  • Grouping files so that no subfolder exceeds 500 MB in total size.
  • Creating subfolders with custom names based on metadata.

> Tip: If both limits are set, a new subfolder is created whenever either limit is reached.
