Auto Authentication

HTTP Authentication Method Grooper.CMIS

Authenticates HTTP requests using the credentials of the current Windows user.

Remarks

Auto Authentication enables Grooper to connect to external content platforms or HTTP servers using the identity of the user currently logged into Windows. This method leverages integrated Windows authentication (such as NTLM or Kerberos) to automatically provide credentials without requiring the user to manually enter a user name or password.

Overview

This authentication method is ideal for environments where single sign-on (SSO) is desired, or where the server is configured to trust the Windows identity of the client. When Auto Authentication is used, Grooper will automatically attach the current user's credentials to each HTTP request, allowing seamless access to resources protected by Windows authentication.

Usage Notes

  • Auto Authentication is typically selected as part of a CMIS Binding or Custom Binding configuration when setting up a CMIS Connection in Grooper.
  • Use this method when connecting to servers that require Windows-integrated authentication, such as Microsoft SharePoint, on-premises file servers, or other enterprise systems.
  • No additional configuration is required. The credentials of the user running the Grooper service or application will be used automatically.
  • If Grooper is running as a Windows service, ensure the service account has the necessary permissions on the target server.

All HTTP requests made by the binding will use the current Windows user's credentials for authentication.
