Batch Process Step - Recognition Tester

Provides a dedicated interface for testing the Recognize activity on a Batch Process Step, enabling users to evaluate OCR results and review detailed diagnostics for selected documents.

Remarks

The Recognition Tester tab is a comprehensive workspace for validating, troubleshooting, and refining OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processes within a Batch Process Step.
It is designed for solution designers and administrators who need to test recognition results, analyze OCR output, and review diagnostic information before deploying changes to production.

Purpose

Use the Recognition Tester to run the Recognize activity on selected test sources, view OCR output in multiple synchronized views, and access detailed diagnostics.
This enables rapid feedback and iterative improvement of OCR configuration and performance.

UI Components

• Test Source Panel:
  • Allows users to browse and select the document or node to be tested.
  • Presents a hierarchical view of available test data, such as batches, folders, or documents.
  • Supports navigation and selection using mouse and keyboard.
  • Includes action buttons for running recognition (Test) and viewing diagnostics (Diagnostics).
• Document Viewer:
  • Displays the content of the currently-selected document for visual inspection.
  • Supports a variety of document types and formats, including images, text, and structured data.
  • Provides context for comparing the original document with OCR results.
• OCR Viewer:
  • Presents recognized character data in multiple synchronized views: Layout View, Text View, and Character View.
  • Layout View visually reconstructs the document using OCR character positions and layout data.
  • Text View displays the plain text output of the OCR process.
  • Character View shows a detailed, sortable list of individual recognized characters, including confidence scores and metadata.
  • Tab navigation allows users to switch between views for in-depth analysis.
• Split Panel Layout:
  • Organizes the test source, document viewer, and OCR viewer for efficient side-by-side comparison and review.
  • Supports synchronized scrolling and zooming between viewers for cross-referencing content.

Workflow and Scope

• The tab is enabled for Batch Process Steps configured with a Recognize activity.
• Use the Test Source panel to select the batch, folder, or document to test.
• Click the Test button to run OCR and update the viewers with new results.
• Use the Diagnostics button to review logs, error messages, and other diagnostic information from the most recent recognition run.
• Compare the source document in the Document Viewer with the recognized data in the OCR Viewer for quality assurance and troubleshooting.
