Descendants

Node Node Report GrooperReview.Pages.Design

Displays a report of all descendant node types and the total count for each type under the selected Node.

Remarks

The Descendants report provides a summary of all child and descendant nodes beneath the selected Node in the repository tree. It groups descendants by their type and displays the total count for each type, helping users quickly understand the structure and composition of complex hierarchies.

This report is useful for auditing, troubleshooting, and managing large or deeply nested configurations, such as Projects, Folders, Content Models, or any node that can contain children.

Report Layout and Features

  • Header:
Displays the total number of descendant nodes found under the selected Node.
  • Table:
Each row represents a unique descendant type and includes:
    • Type: The display name of the descendant node type (e.g., Document Type, Data Field, Folder).
    • Count: The number of descendant nodes of that type. Types are ordered by descending count, so the most common types appear first.

Usage Guidance

  • Use this report to audit the structure of any Node and its descendants, especially when working with large or complex configurations.
  • Identify which types of nodes are most prevalent, or spot unexpected node types that may require review.
  • This report is especially helpful for repository maintenance, migration planning, or when troubleshooting node proliferation.
