Gamma Adjust

Gamma Command IP Command Grooper.IP

Adjusts the gamma correction level of an image to control midtone brightness and contrast.

Remarks

The Gamma Adjust command applies gamma correction to an image, allowing you to brighten or darken midtones without significantly affecting pure black or pure white regions. Gamma correction is commonly used to compensate for differences in display devices, to enhance image appearance, or to prepare images for further processing.

  • The 'Gamma Level' property controls the strength of the gamma adjustment. Values less than 1 darken the image, while values greater than 1 brighten it.
  • The 'Region Of Interest' property allows you to restrict gamma correction to a specific rectangular area of the image, specified in inches. If all values are zero, the entire image is processed.

Supported Pixel Formats

The Gamma Adjust command supports 8-bit grayscale and 24-bit RGB images. Other pixel formats are not modified.

Diagnostics

The Gamma Adjust command does not generate diagnostics.

Usage Example

To brighten an image, set 'Gamma Level' to a value greater than 1.0 (e.g., 1.5). To darken, use a value less than 1.0 (e.g., 0.7).
