Color Dropout

IP Command Grooper.IP

Replaces pixels in a specific color range with a replacement color.

Remarks

The Color Dropout command is used to remove or replace pixels in an image that match a specific color or range of colors. This is commonly used to eliminate colored backgrounds, highlights, or form elements from scanned documents, making the remaining content easier to process or read.

The command can operate in several modes:

  • Replace all colors: Leave 'Target Color' empty to match all colors.
  • Replace all shades of gray: Leave 'Target Color' empty and set 'Invert' to true.
  • Replace a specific color: Set 'Target Color' to the color to be replaced.
  • Preserve a specific color: Set 'Target Color' to the color to preserve and set 'Invert' to true.

The 'Maximum Distance' property controls how closely a pixel must match the target color to be replaced. The 'Fill Color' property determines the replacement color; if left empty, the dominant background color is used.

Supported Pixel Formats

Only 24-bit color images (Pixel24bppBgr) are supported. The command will not process images in other formats.

Diagnostics

Color Dropout does not generate diagnostic images. The effect can be visually inspected by comparing the input and output images.

> Tip: Use Color Dropout to remove colored form lines, highlights, or backgrounds before OCR or > data extraction.
