Auto Color Balance

Auto Color Command IP Command Grooper.IP

Automatically corrects the color and contrast of an image.

Remarks

The Auto Color Balance command analyzes the color distribution of an image and automatically adjusts the black and white points to improve color balance and contrast. This is especially useful for correcting color casts, faded scans, or images with uneven lighting, resulting in a more natural and visually appealing appearance.

The command works by ignoring a configurable percentage of the darkest and brightest pixels (using the 'Clip' property) when determining the optimal black and white points. This helps prevent outliers or noise from skewing the adjustment, and ensures that the majority of the image is enhanced.

Configuration

  • Use the 'Clip' property to specify the percentage of pixels to ignore at both ends of the histogram when calculating the black and white points. Higher values make the adjustment less sensitive to extreme outliers.

Diagnostics

Auto Color Balance does not generate diagnostic images. The effect can be visually inspected by comparing the input and output images.

> Tip: Use Auto Color Balance as a preprocessing step to standardize color and contrast before > OCR, data extraction, or further image processing.
