Auto Border Crop

The 'Border Region Size' property sets the maximum thickness of the area along each edge that will be considered for border detection. Any detected border that exceeds this limit will be ignored.

Specify the value using unit-aware strings (e.g., 0.25in, 10px). You can set different values for each side if needed.

Use the "Zoning" diagnostic image to visualize the effect of this setting (shown in red).

> Example: To restrict border detection to a 20 pixel region on all sides, set this property to > 20px.

The 'Minimum Border Weight' property controls how solid a border must be to be detected. A value of 1.0 (100%) requires a perfectly solid border, while lower values allow for increasing imperfection.

Adjust this property to match the quality of your scanned images. Lower the value if borders are faint or broken; increase it to avoid detecting noise as a border.

> Example: Set to 0.9 (90%) to allow for some gaps or imperfections in the border.

The 'Minimum Border Thickness' property defines the thinnest line or artifact that will be considered a border. Use this to avoid detecting very thin lines or noise as borders.

Specify the value using unit-aware strings (e.g., 1pt, 2px).

> Example: To require a border at least 3 pixels thick, set this property to 3px.

The 'Maximum Border Inset' property sets how far from the edge a detected border can be. Borders found further in from the edge than this value will be ignored.

Specify the value using unit-aware strings (e.g., 3pt, 10px).

Use the "Zoning" diagnostic image to visualize the effect of this setting (shown in green).

> Example: To only consider borders within 5 pixels of the edge, set this property to 5px.

When set to true, Auto Border Crop will perform an additional pass to remove small artifacts and noise near the edges of the image after the main border has been cropped. This is especially useful for cleaning up streaks, specks, or other minor defects that may remain along the border after cropping.

When set to false, only the main black border is removed, and no further edge cleanup is performed.

Example

• Set to true to remove both the main border and any small edge artifacts.
• Set to false to only crop the main border, leaving any remaining edge noise untouched.

> Note: The behavior of edge cleanup can be further customized using the 'Border Fill Settings' property.

The 'Border Fill Settings' property exposes a set of options that control how edge artifacts are detected and removed when 'Fill Border' is enabled. These settings allow you to fine-tune the size, shape, and aggressiveness of the border fill operation to match the specific characteristics of your scanned images.

Key Options

• Border Region Size: Defines how far from the edge to search for artifacts.
• Maximum Inset: Limits how deep into the image the border fill will operate.
• Fill Method: Determines whether only fully-contained blobs, intersecting blobs, or all pixels in the border region are removed.

Example

To remove only small specks within 10 pixels of the edge, set the border region size to 10px and choose the 'Exclusive' fill method.

> Tip: Use diagnostic output to visualize the effect of your settings and ensure that legitimate content > near the edges is preserved.

The 'Border Adjust' property allows you to fine-tune the detected border region by expanding or contracting it on each side. Positive values increase the thickness of the detected border, while negative values decrease it.

Specify the value using unit-aware strings (e.g., 2px, -1pt).

> Example: To expand the detected border by 5 pixels on all sides, set this property to 5px.

Can be one of the following types:

When set, the image will be binarized using the specified Binarize command before border detection is performed. This can improve detection accuracy for images with variable backgrounds or low contrast.

The goal is to produce an image where the border is black and the background is white. Use the properties of the Binarize command to tune the thresholding method and parameters.

> Tip: Use diagnostic output to review the effect of binarization and ensure that the border is clearly > separated from the background.

The 'Command Type Name' property shows the user-friendly name of the IP Command as it appears in the Grooper UI. This helps users identify which command is being configured or executed, especially when working with IP Profiles containing multiple commands.

This property is read-only and is automatically set based on the command's type.

The 'Supported Pixel Formats' property lists the image pixel formats that the IP Command can process. If an image does not match one of these formats, the command will be skipped for that image.

• By default, all pixel formats are supported unless a derived command restricts this list.
• Example formats include Pixel8bppGrayscale, Pixel24bppBgr, and Pixel1bppIndexed.

Use this property to verify compatibility when building IP Profiles or troubleshooting why a command did not execute.
