Adjust Saturation

IP Command Grooper.IP

Adjusts the saturation (color intensity) in an image.

Remarks

The Adjust Saturation command modifies the intensity of colors in an image, making them appear more vivid or more muted depending on the configuration. This is useful for enhancing the visual impact of scanned documents, correcting faded images, or reducing color distractions before further processing.

The command works by converting the image to the HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) color space, scaling the saturation channel by the specified amount, and then converting the image back to the standard BGR format. This approach ensures that only the color intensity is affected, while hue and brightness are preserved.

Configuration

  • Use the 'Saturation Level' property to control how much to increase or decrease the color intensity. Values less than 1.0 reduce saturation (make colors more muted), values greater than 1.0 increase saturation (make colors more vivid), and a value of 1.0 leaves the image unchanged.

Supported Pixel Formats

Only 24-bit color images are supported. The command will not process images in other formats.

Diagnostics

Adjust Saturation does not generate diagnostic images. The effect can be visually inspected by comparing the input and output images.

> Tip: Use Adjust Saturation to enhance document legibility or to prepare images for OCR and > data extraction by reducing distracting color backgrounds.
