Data Field Container - Import Schema

Data Field Container Command Grooper.Core

Imports child data elements from an external source.

Remarks

The Import Schema command allows you to automatically create or update the child data elements of a Data Field Container (such as a Data Model, Data Section, or Data Table) by importing a schema definition from an external source. This is especially useful for quickly building complex data models that mirror the structure of databases, XML/XSD files, EDI schemas, or other structured data formats.

When to Use

  • When you want to rapidly generate Data Fields, Data Sections, or Data Tables based on an external schema, reducing manual configuration and ensuring consistency with external systems.
  • When you need to update an existing container to reflect changes in an external schema source.

How It Works

  1. Select the Data Field Container you wish to populate or update.
  2. Choose a Schema Importer as the 'Source' to define where the schema will be imported from.
  3. Optionally, enable 'Remove Existing' to clear all current child elements before importing.
  4. Execute the command to import the schema and create or update the child data elements.

> Note: After importing, review the generated structure to ensure it meets your extraction and validation requirements. You can re-run the importer at any time to synchronize with changes in the external schema.

For more information about schema importers and supported sources, see the documentation for Schema Importer.
