Batch - Archive

Batch Command Grooper.Core

Archives selected batches by moving them into a destination folder, optionally organizing them into subfolders by date and clearing job history.

Remarks

The Archive command consolidates the contents of selected Batch objects into a specified Folder, with options for chronological subfoldering and job history cleanup.

Overview

Use this command to move one or more Batch objects into a single destination Folder. Optionally, batches can be organized into subfolders based on their creation date, using the 'Subfoldering' property. This is useful for archiving batches by year, month, day, or other time-based groupings.

  • All selected batches are moved into the destination Folder, and empty source folders are deleted.
  • If subfoldering is enabled, each batch is placed in a subfolder path determined by its creation date and the selected time grouping.
  • The 'Clear Job History' option allows you to delete historical job and task records for each archived batch, helping to keep the system database clean when archiving large numbers of batches.

Usage Notes

  • Only batches that are not currently active can be archived.
  • When archiving, all content from the selected batches is merged into the destination folder structure.
Empty source folders are deleted after the move.
  • Use subfoldering to keep archived batches organized and easy to locate by date.
  • Clearing job history is recommended when archiving large volumes of batches to prevent excessive growth of the job and task tables.
