Undo Separation

Separation Provider Grooper.Capture

Flattens a Batch Folder by recursively removing all child Batch Folders, leaving only loose Batch Pages.

Remarks

Overview

The Undo Separation Separator class is used to reverse previous document separation, restoring a Batch Folder to a flat structure containing only loose Batch Pages. All nested Batch Folders are removed, and any pages they contain are moved to the root folder.

Purpose and Role

  • Undo Separation:
Removes all document and folder structure created by prior separation activities, leaving a single-level folder of pages.
  • Batch Flattening:
Useful for reprocessing, troubleshooting, or preparing a batch for a new separation strategy.
  • Attachment Handling:
If a Batch Folder contains attachments (such as multi-page images), these are converted to individual Batch Pages before the folder is removed.

Usage Scenarios

  • Re-separation:
Flatten a batch before applying a new or updated separation provider.
  • Error Recovery:
Undo incorrect or undesired separation results to restore the original page sequence.
  • Batch Import:
Prepare imported batches for custom processing by removing all folder structure.

Best Practices

  • Use with caution, as all folder and document structure will be lost.
  • Review the batch after flattening to ensure all pages are present and no data is lost.
  • Combine with other separation providers to implement flexible, multi-stage workflows.
