Batch Process Step - Activity Tester

Batch Process Step Batch Process Step - Testing Tab GrooperReview.Pages.Design

Provides a unified interface for testing any Batch Process Step, allowing designers to simulate and validate the configured Activity on test data.

Remarks

The Activity Tester tab is a comprehensive workspace for running, validating, and troubleshooting any step in a Batch Process.
It is designed for solution designers and administrators who need to rapidly iterate on step configuration, test activities with real data,
and review results in a single, interactive environment.

Purpose

Use the Activity Tester to execute the current step's activity on selected test sources, view the output, and access detailed diagnostics.
This enables rapid feedback and validation of both attended and unattended activities, supporting a wide range of process design scenarios.

UI Components

  • Test Source:
    • Presents a hierarchical view of available test data, such as batches, folders, or documents.
    • Selecting an item determines the input for the test run and what is displayed in the Document Viewer.
    • Supports navigation and selection using mouse and keyboard.
  • Document Viewer:
    • Displays the content of the currently selected document or page from the test source.
    • Supports a variety of document types and formats, including images, text, and structured data.
    • Provides context for reviewing test results and activity output.
  • Diagnostics Button:
    • Opens a diagnostics panel with logs, error messages, and other details from the previous test run.
    • Essential for troubleshooting and refining activity configuration.
  • Test Button:
    • Executes the configured activity for this step on the selected test source.
    • For Review activities, launches the Review Page; for Code Activities, runs the activity directly and displays results.
    • Provides immediate feedback on activity behavior and configuration.
  • Process All Button:
    • Submits a job to process all items in the current step's scope, simulating production batch processing.
    • Allows designers to validate activity behavior at scale and observe results across multiple documents or folders.

Workflow and Scope

  • The tab is enabled for any Batch Process Step with a configured activity.
  • Use the Test Source to select the batch, folder, or document to test.
  • Run the activity using the Test Button to validate configuration and review results in the Document Viewer.
  • Use the Diagnostics Button to access logs and troubleshoot issues.
  • Use the Process All Button to simulate full-scale processing and validate step behavior in a production-like scenario.

Accessibility

  • Fully navigable by keyboard and mouse.
  • Visual cues and highlighting indicate the selected test source and document.
  • Tooltips and context menus provide guidance for available actions and controls.
