Exchange - Rebuild Search Folder

Exchange Command Grooper.Messaging

Deletes and recreates the dedicated Exchange Search Folder used by Grooper for optimized message queries.

Remarks

The Rebuild Search Folder command is used to delete and recreate the special "Grooper Search" folder in Exchange Online or on-premises Exchange. This search folder is automatically created and maintained by Grooper when the 'Use Search Folder' property is enabled on an Exchange binding.

Purpose

  • Clears out old or corrupted search folder contents.
  • Forces a full rebuild of the search index for message queries, which can resolve issues with missing or stale results.
  • Improves query performance and accuracy for large mailboxes when using the search folder optimization.

Usage

  1. Right-click the Exchange binding in the property grid and select Rebuild Search Folder from the context menu.
  2. The existing "Grooper Search" folder (if present) will be deleted, and a new one will be created and indexed by Exchange.
  3. Subsequent queries that use the search folder will benefit from a fresh, up-to-date index.

When to Use

  • If search results are incomplete, outdated, or inconsistent.
  • After a large number of mailbox changes or migrations.
  • As a troubleshooting step for search-related issues in Grooper's Exchange integration.

> Note: Rebuilding the search folder may take several seconds to complete, especially for large mailboxes. During this time, > search queries may return incomplete results until the folder is fully indexed by Exchange.
