Sticky Note Detection

The 'Minimum Sticky Note Size' property sets the smallest width and height (in unit-aware format, e.g. 1in) for a region to be considered a sticky note.

• Increase to ignore small colored elements or noise.
• Decrease to detect smaller sticky notes.

Tuning Guidance:

• Set to match the smallest sticky notes used in your process.
• Use unit-aware values (e.g. 0.5in, 10mm).

The 'Maximum Sticky Note Size' property sets the largest width and height (in unit-aware format, e.g. 4in) for a region to be considered a sticky note.

• Decrease to ignore large colored regions (e.g., covers, tabs).
• Increase to allow detection of larger sticky notes.

Tuning Guidance:

• Set to match the largest sticky notes used in your process.

Can be one of the following values:

The 'Processing Resolution' property determines the DPI at which sticky note detection is performed.

• Lower resolutions speed up processing but may miss small notes.
• Higher resolutions improve accuracy but increase processing time.

Tuning Guidance:

• Use the default unless you need to detect very small sticky notes.
• For most cases, 50 DPI is sufficient.

The 'Color Threshold' property defines how much a pixel's color must differ from gray to be considered "color".

• Lower values detect fainter colors (more sensitive).
• Higher values detect only strong, saturated colors.

Tuning Guidance:

• Review the "Dropout" and "Candidates" diagnostics to ensure only sticky notes are detected.
• Adjust to exclude colored printing or highlights if needed.

The 'Trim Factor' property controls the strength of morphological closing applied to the candidate image.

• Increase to remove small noise or speckles.
• Decrease to preserve fine details.

Tuning Guidance:

• Review the "Candidates" diagnostic to ensure sticky notes are solid white rectangles.
• Typical values are 1-4.

The 'Corner Tolerance' property sets the maximum allowed gap (in unit-aware format, e.g. .15in) between the ends of lines forming a rectangle.

• Increase to allow for imperfect or broken lines.
• Decrease to require tighter rectangle corners.

• Adjust to match the quality of your scans and sticky notes.

The 'Angle Tolerance' property sets how much the angles of lines forming a rectangle can deviate from 90°.

• Increase to allow for skewed or imperfect rectangles.
• Decrease to require more precise right angles.

• Adjust for the expected quality and alignment of sticky notes in your scans.

The 'Annotation Color' property sets the color used to draw rectangles around detected sticky notes in diagnostic images.

• Choose a color that stands out against your document backgrounds.

• Use red or another high-contrast color for best visibility.

The 'Flag Pages' property determines whether pages with detected sticky notes are flagged for review or exception handling.

• Enable to support operator review or workflow branching.
• Disable if you only want to annotate sticky notes without flagging.

• Use in quality control or exception workflows to ensure sticky notes are addressed before batch completion.

The 'Command Type Name' property shows the user-friendly name of the IP Command as it appears in the Grooper UI. This helps users identify which command is being configured or executed, especially when working with IP Profiles containing multiple commands.

This property is read-only and is automatically set based on the command's type.

The 'Supported Pixel Formats' property lists the image pixel formats that the IP Command can process. If an image does not match one of these formats, the command will be skipped for that image.

• By default, all pixel formats are supported unless a derived command restricts this list.
• Example formats include Pixel8bppGrayscale, Pixel24bppBgr, and Pixel1bppIndexed.

Use this property to verify compatibility when building IP Profiles or troubleshooting why a command did not execute.
