Dilate Erode

Can be one of the following values:

Selects which morphological filter is performed:

• Dilate: Expands feature pixels, connecting gaps and thickening lines.
• Erode: Shrinks feature pixels, removing noise and thinning lines.
• Open: Erodes then dilates, removing small objects while preserving shape.
• Close: Dilates then erodes, filling small holes and connecting features.

Choose the operation based on your cleanup or enhancement goal.

Example:
Use Open to remove isolated specks, or Close to connect broken text.

Sets the size of the structuring element (mask) used for the operation:

• A value of 1 uses a 3x3 mask.
• A value of 2 uses a 5x5 mask.
• A value of 3 uses a 7x7 mask, and so on.

Larger values increase the effect, impacting larger features and more aggressively connecting or removing elements.

Configuration Tip:
Start with 1 for subtle changes. Increase for more aggressive cleanup or enhancement.

Example:
To remove large blobs, set 'Factor' to 3.

• Square: A square mask, affecting all directions equally.
• Horizontal: A horizontal bar, targeting horizontal features.
• Vertical: A vertical bar, targeting vertical features.
• Other shapes may be available for specialized effects.

Choose a shape that matches the orientation of the features you want to enhance or suppress.

Example:
Use Horizontal to connect broken lines in tables, or Vertical to clean up column dividers.

The 'Command Type Name' property shows the user-friendly name of the IP Command as it appears in the Grooper UI. This helps users identify which command is being configured or executed, especially when working with IP Profiles containing multiple commands.

This property is read-only and is automatically set based on the command's type.

The 'Supported Pixel Formats' property lists the image pixel formats that the IP Command can process. If an image does not match one of these formats, the command will be skipped for that image.

• By default, all pixel formats are supported unless a derived command restricts this list.
• Example formats include Pixel8bppGrayscale, Pixel24bppBgr, and Pixel1bppIndexed.

Use this property to verify compatibility when building IP Profiles or troubleshooting why a command did not execute.
