Convert

Change Pixel Format Command IP Command Grooper.IP

Changes the color format of an image.

Remarks

The Convert command transforms an image from its current pixel format to a specified target pixel format. This is useful for standardizing images to a consistent format for downstream processing, storage, or export.

The command supports conversion between all common pixel formats used in Grooper, including color, grayscale, and binary (black and white) formats. It automatically selects the most efficient conversion method based on the source and target formats, using hardware-accelerated routines where possible for optimal performance.

How It Works

  • If the image is already in the desired format, no changes are made.
  • If conversion is required, the command applies the appropriate transformation, preserving as much image fidelity as possible.
  • The command can be used to convert images to binary for OCR, to grayscale for analysis, or to color for archiving.

Supported Pixel Formats

All pixel formats are supported as both input and output.

Configuration Guidance

  • Use the 'Target Pixel Format' property to select the desired output format.
  • Choose Pixel1bppIndexed for maximum compression and OCR compatibility.
  • Choose Pixel8bppGrayscale to preserve shading and pencil marks.
  • Choose Pixel24bppBgr or Pixel32bppBgra to retain full color information.

This command is typically used as part of an IP Profile to ensure all images are in a consistent format before further processing or export.
