EDI File - Bundle

EDI File Command Grooper.EDI

Replaces the selected EDI files with a new set of files containing N transactions each.

Remarks

The Bundle command is used to split and reorganize EDI files by grouping a specified number of transactions into new output files. This is especially useful for managing large EDI files or for creating smaller, more manageable files for downstream processing, review, or export.

When executed, this command processes each selected EDI File, extracts transactions based on the specified X12 loop, and creates new files containing up to the configured number of transactions per file. Optionally, the command can classify the resulting documents using mappings between X12 EDI schemas and Grooper Content Types.

When to Use

  • To break up large EDI files into smaller files, each containing a fixed number of transactions.
  • To reorganize EDI data for batch processing, review, or export.
  • To ensure that each output file is classified according to its schema, enabling downstream extraction and validation.

How It Works

  1. Specify the X12 loop that defines a "transaction" for chunking.
  2. Set the maximum number of transactions per output file.
  3. Optionally, provide schema-to-content type mappings for classification.
  4. Choose whether to preserve or replace existing documents.
  5. Select the desired attachment naming method for output files.
  6. Execute the command to generate new EDI files and folders as needed.

> Note: If the input documents have already been classified, schema mappings are not required. The command can preserve existing documents or replace them, depending on your workflow needs.

For more information about EDI file processing and classification, see the documentation for EDI File and Content Type.
