PDF Document - Compact

Reduces the size of a PDF file by removing duplicate resources and optimizing compression.

Remarks

The Compact command analyzes the attached PDF Document for a Batch Folder and performs size optimization by:

• Identifying and removing duplicate resources (such as fonts, images, and other objects) within the PDF.
• Rewriting the PDF using the specified compression settings to further reduce file size.

This process is non-destructive to document content and structure, but may significantly reduce storage requirements, especially for PDFs with repeated images or embedded fonts.

Usage Scenarios

• Use this command to optimize PDFs before archival, export, or transmission.
• Especially effective for PDFs generated by scanners or legacy systems that embed duplicate resources.
• Can be used in automated workflows to ensure all PDFs meet size and efficiency requirements.

The optimized PDF replaces the original attachment on the Batch Folder.

DefaultTrue When set to true, the command will scan the PDF for duplicate resources (such as fonts and images) and ensure that only a single copy of each is retained. Deduplication can dramatically reduce file size for PDFs with repeated content. Set to false to skip deduplication and only apply compression. Example: Enable deduplication to optimize a scanned document with repeated logos or background images.
Compression	CompressionMode	►	Specifies the compression mode to use when saving the optimized PDF. DefaultBestCompression Can be one of the following values: Name Value Description None 0 No compression will be used. Fast save speed with large file size. ► BestSpeed 1 Compression will be optimized for speed. Medium save speed with medium file size. ► BestCompression 2 Compression will be optimized for file size. Slow save speed with small file size. ► Determines the level and method of compression applied to the PDF during the compaction process. Higher compression modes (such as BestCompression) yield smaller files but may increase processing time. Lower compression modes (such as BestSpeed) save faster but may result in larger files. Choose the mode that best fits your workflow requirements for file size and processing speed. Example: Use BestCompression for archival or email, BestSpeed for rapid processing.
