Node Query

Connected Object Grooper.Core

Defines criteria for searching the Grooper tree structure for Nodes.

Remarks

The Node Query object enables users to search for Nodes within the Grooper repository tree by specifying a combination of criteria such as type, name, properties, ID, references, and content patterns. This tool is designed to help users quickly locate, filter, and analyze nodes for configuration, troubleshooting, or documentation purposes.

Usage

Configure the query by setting one or more properties to define the search scope. For example, you can:

  • Search for all nodes of a specific type (e.g., Batch Folder, Batch Page, Project).
  • Find nodes whose names or properties match a pattern, using % as a wildcard (e.g., Invoice%).
  • Locate nodes by their unique ID or display name.
  • Filter for nodes that are referenced (or not referenced) by other nodes.
  • Perform full-text searches within the content of Batch Folders or Batch Pages using regular expressions.

The query is executed against the selected base node and its descendants, returning all matching nodes. This is useful for tasks such as auditing configuration, identifying unused or orphaned nodes, and preparing for batch operations or documentation.

Node Query is typically used in the Node Finder tool, advanced search dialogs, or custom automation scripts to streamline navigation and management of complex Grooper repositories.
