Lexicon - Subtract

Lexicon Command Grooper.Core

Removes all entries from this lexicon which appear in a reference lexicon.

Remarks

The Subtract command creates a new version of the selected Lexicon with all entries that are also present in a specified reference Lexicon removed. This is useful for eliminating duplicates, filtering out unwanted values, or isolating unique entries between two dictionaries.

When to Use

  • To remove entries from a Lexicon that are already present in another Lexicon, such as filtering out deprecated or previously processed values.
  • When you need to isolate new, unique, or unapproved entries for review or further processing.
  • For quality control, deduplication, or dictionary maintenance tasks.

How It Works

  • Select the source Lexicon and specify a reference Lexicon using the 'Reference Lexicon' property.
  • Optionally, use the 'Include References' property to control whether only local entries or all referenced entries in the reference Lexicon are considered.
  • The command removes all entries from the source Lexicon that are also found in the reference Lexicon.
  • If no unique entries remain, the command will display an error and make no changes.

> Note: The operation is permanent and cannot be undone. Consider exporting a backup before subtracting.
