Use Move to transfer the document directly to the destination Batch Process.
The original document is removed from its source batch and will only exist in the target batch.

When to Use

• When you want to reassign documents to a new workflow without retaining the original.
• Suitable for most standard routing scenarios where audit trails or parallel processing are not required.

Impact

• The document is no longer available in its original batch after routing.
• Data actions and content type changes (if configured) are applied during the move.

Use Clone to create a duplicate of the document in the destination Batch Process, while keeping the original in place.

When to Use

• When you need to retain the original document for audit, review, or parallel workflows.
• Useful for scenarios where the same document must be processed in multiple workflows or retained for compliance.

Impact

• Both the original and the cloned document exist after routing.
• Data actions and content type changes (if configured) are applied to the cloned document.

Use Convert to transform a document or folder into a new Batch, optionally changing its Content Type and applying Data Actions to map or normalize data as part of the routing process.

How It Works

• The selected document or folder is converted into a Batch at the routing stage.
• If a 'Target Type' is specified, the document's Content Type is changed to the new type.
• Any configured Data Actions are executed to transfer or transform data from the source to the target Content Type.
• The resulting Batch is then launched into the specified Batch Process for downstream processing.

When to Use

• This method only works when running the Route activity at the folder level.
• When you need to break out a document or folder as a new Batch for independent workflow.

Impact

• The original document or folder is replaced by a new Batch with the updated Content Type and data.
• The original is not retained in its previous form.
• This method cannot be applied to items that are already Batches; use Move or Clone in those cases.
